Simon Safety Challenge 5 Aside Football Tournament Wednesday 19 May 2010 On Wednesday 19th May 2010 Simon Community NI and Northstone Group came together for a 5 aside football tournament.The event was held at Queens PEC outdoor pitches and was organised to thank Northstone for their support over the past three years. The Northstone Group, incorporating Farrans, Northstone Materials and Cubis Industries, launched its Simon Safety Challenge in July 2007 as a way of further encouraging and raising awareness among its workforce to undertake their duties as safely as possible. In doing so, the Simon Community NI, which does essential work in addressing homelessness in Northern Ireland, benefited from the company's contract sites and work locations remaining accident free. In the first two years of the Challenge, Northstone have donated a total of £369,000 to the Simon Community in Northern Ireland. This tournament was a great opportunity for Northstone staff to meet and socialise with Simon Community service users who have benefited from the funds donated to the charity. It was a fun and enjoyable evening for all who participated. Congratulations to the winning team Farrans and runners up Northstone. Simon Community would also like to thank T Duffy & Son's (Mace Store) in Strangford for providing snacks for all the players.
