Schools play a key part in our work by partnering with us to help educate the next generation on homelessness, the work of Simon Community NI and the impact fundraising can make to the lives of people who are homeless.  Last year we supported over 3000 people across Northern Ireland from all walks of life – families, young people and individuals.

Every day another 15 young people become homeless in Northern Ireland and currently over 5500 children are recognised as having no home.

We believe that by nurturing and supporting young people we can help them to have a secure and stable future.  Simon Community NI believe that every child and young person should have somewhere to call home.

Our dedicated Schools Coordinator will come to your school to provide an age appropriate talk with your pupils.  Using colourful boards and bringing a special furry guest in the form of our own SIMON bear, the talk is interactive and fun.

As a thank-you, schools who fundraise for us will be presented with their very own SIMON Bear as a reminder of their fundraising efforts and kind support.

We can also provide resources to help your fundraising - balloons, buckets, pencils, sponsorship forms, donation envelopes and information leaflets.

“Thank you for the talk you gave our children. The presentation was very informative, and the children were engaged asking lots of interesting questions. We can’t wait to raise funds for Simon Community NI.”

Our dedicated Schools Coordinator will visit your school and deliver a powerpoint presentation with the opportunity for pupils to interact. This can be in an assembly for the entire school or as part of a class lesson in citizenship, LLW, Religious Studies or English. The presentation will aim to change the stereotypes held around homelessness and allow a more comprehensive understanding of homelessness in Northern Ireland.

Every year we welcome more than 1,000 young people through our doors, providing them with warm, safe beds and daily ongoing support throughout their homelessness.

Last year over 2,800 young people aged 16-25 were recognized as homeless in Northern Ireland.

The presentation was really informative. The pupils are still buzzing from it and it has encouraged them to help raise funds among the class.

The Simon Community presentation was so informative – at the right pitch for teenagers. What really struck a chord with our young people was that this is a real problem in N Ireland and it can happen to anyone regardless of age, gender or background.
