For many, Christmas is a time for gifts, office parties and quality time with loved ones. But for those with no home, Christmas can mean worry over keeping warm, guilt for not being able to afford gifts or loneliness for those no longer in touch with family.

2018 has been a harrowing year for the homelessness sector with 20,000 children on housing waiting lists, an average of 49 adults per day registering as homeless and countless individuals across the country sleeping on sofas. More alarming, around three people per week die whilst waiting for a home.

“Last year, I spent Christmas in a coma due to a weakened immune brought on by homelessness. This year, I will decorate a tree in my own home before spending time in New Zealand visiting my daughter and grandson. I have been able to turn my life around with the support of Simon Community NI.”

Each night this December, Simon Community NI will provide 369 warm, safe beds for those with no home. They will be adults, young people and families, all anxious and frightened for their future. With your support, we can help make Christmas a little brighter for someone with no home.
