Learning and Development

Simon Community NI is committed to the personal and professional development of all staff. We work to ensure staff are provided with up to date training and learning opportunities so they are best equipped to manage the complex needs of the clients we support.

We value the work that occurs within our accommodation projects and all training provided is of the highest quality. We are a recognised accredited Open College Network centre and our induction training for new staff is Level 3 accredited.

We know that being homeless is only one of the many challenges our clients face, often people have other complex needs to manage and overcome; including drug and alcohol addiction, mental health issues, poverty, malnutrition, low motivation or inability to face these challenges; so we support the professional development of our staff to undertake training in these areas, encouraging them to develop additional skills and become in-house complex needs specialists as required. This learning enables our staff to provide effective support and influence real change for our clients. Areas of training include:

  • Adult & Children Safeguarding
  • Housing Rights & Benefits
  • Naloxone Administration
  • First Aid
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Suicide Intervention
  • And more
