Pyjama parties, bake sales, fancy dress and funky hair styles, it’s that time of year again at Peter Mark! The annual Petermarkathon fundraiser is back and coming to Peter Mark salons from Friday 27th – Monday 30th October 2017. This year, the Peter Mark team aims to raise much needed funds for Simon Community Northern Ireland and specifically contribute to maintaining the support facilities for homeless individuals in crisis as part of the “Hearts and Minds” campaign.

The overall aim of the “Hearts and Minds” campaign is to help provide a unique service of three dual diagnosis practitioners that will help people across all 22 projects in Northern Ireland. This specialist programme focuses on mental health, drug and alcohol issues amongst the homeless in Northern Ireland.

Simon Community Northern Ireland will partake in this wonderful campaign with each of the 7 Peter Mark salons in Northern Ireland. Funds raised will help local Simon Communities deliver vital services.

Speaking about the initiative, Peter O’Rourke, CEO, Peter Mark said, “We are delighted to be able to take part in the “Hearts and Minds” initiative to help raise much needed funds for The Simon Communities in Northern Ireland. We know our customers will get behind this year’s Petermarkathon in their usual inimitable spirit and style”.

Brian Shanks of Simon Community Northern Ireland “We are thrilled that Peter Mark has chosen to support The Simon Communities of Northern Ireland this year. The funds raised will enable us to offer 42 individuals across Northern Ireland up to six sessions of our unique service. This invaluable support will underpin a transformed approach to Health and Wellbeing, within the leading homelessness organisation in Northern Ireland and will truly make a life changing impact on the hearts and minds of so many people this year.”

About the Hearts and Minds Campaign

For 200 of the people we support at any time, mental health issues and drug and alcohol dependencies are often at the heart of preventing them from moving to a more permanent place to call home. At present in Northern Ireland the Health Service struggles to provide all the services necessary for people who are homeless with these dual issues to support them towards a better future.

With the kind support of Peter Mark, Simon Community Northern Ireland will be able to part fund a new team of 3 dual diagnosis practitioners that will benefit people across all of our 22 projects in Northern Ireland. This specialist programme that focuses on mental health, drug and alcohol issues costs £40 per session and £240 for the six-session model.
