Simon Community’s Streetsmart Returns for the Festive Season

Following the success of last year’s Streetsmart campaign, Simon Community Northern Ireland is re launching the scheme for the festive season.

Streetsmart allows Christmas diners to donate a small amount of cash when paying their bill, helping Simon Community NI continue providing the invaluable services they offer.

Noreen Kennedy, Fundraising Manager said ‘It is a simple idea, which goes a long way. If you are in a participating restaurant you will be aware of the scheme through a special table card, and at the end of your meal your table can add Ł1 to their bill.

This means if you visit a participating restaurant for your Christmas occasion, you can make a difference to the lives of people who are homeless in Northern Ireland, all for just Ł1.

Once again, we are indebted to local restaurants and their investment in this campaign, it shows that despite continued tough times, businesses are still willing to share resource and give to worthwhile causes.’

Noreen continued ‘Simon Community NI is working to strengthen communities and lead the way by addressing homelessness in Northern Ireland. If people visit these restaurants and support the scheme they will enhance their dining experience and be part of working to end homelessness in Northern Ireland.’

Local Restaurateur Michael Deane said 'Deanes is pleased to be taking part for the second year running.  We are hoping to build on last year’s success. Streetsmart is a great initiative and helps us do our bit for the local community. Christmas is a time of year when home, family and friends are at the centre of everything we do.'

'But, if you have no home or perhaps no family or friends, Christmas is a challenging time. Simon Community NI is then there to help. Taking part in Streetsmart helps us contribute to that.'
